A memorial is not merely a marker erected over a grave to remind us of the name of the deceased. It is a lasting symbol of remembrance; a tribute to a life now ended. It is therefore extremely important that its design is carefully chosen. We recommend you spend some time looking around different churchyards or cemeteries finding the right memorial before speaking to us.
We will be happy to accompany you to church yards and cemetries to help you make your choice.
Memorials need to be of a material that will withstand all kinds of weather, take a permanent carved inscription (and possibly additional ones later on), be capable of shaping and ornamentation, and harmonise with the surroundings. It should also weather attractively. Centuries have shown natural stone materials (i.e. stone, slate, marble and granite) have all these qualities.
Memorial cleaning service
Memorials become dirty and stained by air pollution, dirt, hard water, tree sap, birds or any number of other sources. It is a lot easier and less expensive to preserve a memorial than it is to restore one. Regular maintenance and care should be scheduled for any memorial, plaque or monument.
We specialise in memorial cleaning, renovation and maintenance.
We can offer:
Full thorough cleaning of memorials to bring them back to a near new condition
Re-facing of existing memorials
Adding new inscriptions
Supplying new stone and glass chippings
Re-levelling subsided memorials
Re-painting and re-gilding existing inscriptions
Following your enquiry, we locate and carry out an inspection of the memorial to include the current condition of the stone and inscription. A quotation is also supplied with our cleaning fee together with any Cemetery or Churchyard fees if applicable. Following the completion of the work you will be sent a photograph of the cleaned memorial with our compliments.
